About Us
CASTLE QUILTERS was founded in 2006 and are a friendly group of people who come together on a monthly basis to share our quilting abilities, learn from each other and make new friends. It is a stimulating forum and an opportunity to spend two hours a month over a cup of coffee or tea with like-minded creative people. We meet on the fourth Monday of each month (apart from Bank Holidays) in Weybourne Village Hall, Farnham, GU9 9EL from 7.15pm.
Our members have a wide range of skills, from beginner to expert with varied interests who are happy to share ideas and expertise. We are always pleased to welcome new members.
We have an ever-changing programme, usually related to quilting, but sometimes a little 'off-piste. We have Guest Speakers and own sewing evenings which include a 'Hints and Tips' corner where a member demonstrates a specific technique – past examples include applique, Manx quilting and flange binding. We also hold Sew Saturday and Sunday Workshops where we get together for a whole day of sewing, sharing ideas and learning.
We have 11 meetings each year and a social get together in August – an evening meal or afternoon tea with a show and tell. At each meeting, we hold a raffle with quilt inspired prizes and have a 'show and tell' - an excellent opportunity to share your hard work or to take away inspiration for your own projects.
To keep members up-to-date and informed we circulate a monthly newsletter full of club news with details of upcoming meetings and external quilting related events etc. We also have a WhatsApp group for general chitchat.
We exhibit at the Farnham Maltings annual Quilters' Fair and aim to include something from each member, to show a range of work from beginners to more experienced quilters.
We support local charities and our chosen charity for 2025/26 is St Wilfrid's Hospice. Some members also make Quilts for Care Leavers (Q4CL) and Linus quilts so there is always a good cause to help you use up your stash!
